We are back with a brand new Behind The Flavour post, where you will meet our wonderful artisans and learn more about their journey. Today we are talking to Samantha Vine, the founder of The Keto Bakery and get to hear her deeply personal story about why she created her business.
1. Hi Samantha, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
37 yr old ex-advertising account director from London. I am the Founder of The Keto Bakery. I bake, pack and post every single cake fresh to order.
2. How did you start your journey?
My business sprouted from a change in my own lifestyle following a diagnosis of brain cancer in 2017. Being treatable yet incurable I sought complementary ways to support my brain health. The Ketogenic diet has been used since the 1920s in this field. It is very restrictive however - no sugar, no bread, no grains - as a keen cook this led me to create low sugar, low carb alternatives to my favourite sweet carb-laden foods.
3. Do you have a favourite product or best seller?
My favourite has to be the Blueberry Muffins - they are the easiest breakfast or a great afternoon treat.
4. What is the best thing about running Keto Bakery?
Besides baking all week the best thing by far is helping people reach their own health goals such as losing weight or reversing type 2 diabetes by regulating their blood sugar.
